About Teetsy

Scott Marvel is a self-taught illustrator, screen printer, animator and filmmaker. He works out of his studio on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Marvel founded Teetsy in 2005 as a t-shirt and poster site.  His work has appeared in Joe Swanberg’s “Easy” on Netflix and Adam Rifkin’s “Look” series on Showtime.  Marvel has illustrated and directed music videos for Neil Halstead and Headlights.  His work has been shown in gallery shows at Beauty and Brawn Gallery, Marz Community Gallery and Royal Flesh Tattoo.

The critic Matthew Hane said this of Scott’s work: “Scott Marvel grew up in Dundee, Illinois when things were smaller.  He approaches the provincial burdens of family and sustenance with an urban stoicism and the odd whimsy of his line drawn characters who somehow carry impossible weight.”

In 2015, Marvel, along with Daily Planet Productions, Pam Hoffman, and Jeannine Ringland Zwirn, started the charity Giveashi*t  which hand-screens t-shirt designs from a variety of local artists and gives 100% of the profit from the sale of those shirts to Streetwise, in an effort to help those facing homelessness in Chicago.  So far, giveashi*t  has given Streetwise over $320,000.
